Solomon Chopsticks

Solomon Chopsticks is a conceptual artwork by the artistic duo Fiedler O Mastrangelo, presented as part of Murano Illumina Il Mondo 2024-2025. Now entrusted to the renowned Galleria Rossana Orlandi in Milan.

Created in collaboration with the glass masters of Giuman Foundry, the piece translates a conceptual idea into an abstract unlighted sculpture.

Distinguished by its unique execution, the sculpture explores forms of extreme complexity, where abrupt variations in width and angles intertwine in a dynamic and structurally bold composition. This interplay of contrasting elements—thin and thick sections, sharp and fluid transitions—creates a sense of movement and tension within the piece.

The artwork, aims to expand the contemporary language of glass, and establishes an unprecedented dialogue between tradition and innovation. By challenging the technical limits of a centuries-old craft, the work reinterprets Murano’s virtuosity not as an end in itself, but as a vehicle for new formal and conceptual possibilities.

The result is an exercise in balance between technique and artistic vision, defying the notion that the Murano glass tradition had already exhausted its expressive potential.

Solomon Chopsticks is a title that encapsulates a conceptual idea translated into abstract lines and light. The centerpiece resembles chopsticks, which carry symbolic depth beyond their practical use. Just as these utensils require dexterity to handle food, the creative process demands ingenuity to shape ideas.

The artwork evokes movement and intent, seeking to express, through a fusion of art and varied cultural influences, an insight into what the duo considers the essence of the process of creation: An eternal application of artistry to untie infinite knots.
